Sarah Toy is a Canadian-American writer based in New York. Her short fiction is forthcoming in Narrative Magazine. Her stories have been finalists for the Missouri Review’s Perkoff Prize and Narrative Magazine’s Winter Story Contest, as well as a semi-finalist for American Short Fiction’s Halifax Ranch Prize. She is at work on her first novel.
Sarah was previously a staff writer in The Wall Street Journal’s health and medicine bureau, where she covered maternal and child health, chronic illness, mental health, and infectious diseases. Before that, she was energy reporter for the Journal’s markets team. Her reporting has also been featured in Barron’s, MarketWatch, and USA Today.
Sarah has a graduate degree in journalism from Boston University and a bachelor's degree from Union College, where she studied biology and music. She also holds a masters in healthcare management from Clarkson University.
